PSYCHOLOGY

CORE FEATURES

Prof. Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya was among those visionary academic personalities who could anticipate the emerging needs of society for specialized areas of knowledge that were not widely recognized during his time. The result of his inspirational vision and progressive thinking was the introduction of Psychology as a mainstream, full-fledged Honours subject in 1968.

The Department of Psychology began its academic journey in July 1968 with Prof. Mrinal Kanti Dutta as the teaching faculty and Sri Murari Das as the non-teaching technical staff. Over the years, the department has grown steadily in strength and reputation.
