The Urdu Department of Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College was established in the year 2015 with the aim of promoting Urdu language, literature, and cultural values among students. At the time of its inception, the department started its academic journey with 03 students. Over the years, due to dedicated teaching, student interest, and academic development, the number of students has increased to 40 at present.

The department focuses on building strong foundations in Urdu grammar, poetry, prose, and literary history. It encourages students to develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical analysis of Urdu texts. Regular seminars, cultural programmes, literary discussions, and language activities are organised to enhance students’ understanding and appreciation of Urdu heritage.

Moreover, the department aims to prepare students for higher studies, competitive examinations, and career opportunities related to language and literature. With continuous growth in enrolment and academic performance, the Urdu Department is progressing towards becoming a significant Centre for Urdu education in the college.
