The department aims at preparing creative, humane and progressive teachers who will act as a catalyst for social change through a distinctive teacher education programme which is embedded with value and professionalism in approach. Thus, to establish model institution for teacher education with global standards to develop social responsibilities and improved all round performance among the teachers of this new generation the department arranges various sorts of activities for the holistic development of the students.
To strive academic excellence and quality assurance in the field of teacher education students are provided with regular instruction thoroughly with intensive approach of metacognition. To enhance the mental process of thinking, problem solving, and knowledge acquisition various activities are organized for their cognitive development like extension lectures, seminars, workshops, celebration of various days (World Environment Day, Science Day, Antorjayik Bhasha Dibash etc) and so on.
To boost their level of confidence various skill development activities are organized. The activities that focus on building various skills and competencies are micro teaching sessions, simulated teaching, exhibition on teaching learning materials, experiential learning, PPT presentations, workshops to improve their teaching and professional skills, visit to special schools, and heritage places etc.
To provide teachers with knowledge in the field of teaching and research methodology workshops are organized by the department on research and teaching methodology. For the purpose of holistic development of the learners and to create a harmonious development of their cognitive and affective as well as to enhance their aesthetic domain various academic and cultural programs are organized throughout their curriculum transaction period. Such activities include poster presentation, debate on various social and educational issues, wall magazine, welcome programme for the new batch of students, farewell programme for the outgoing students and reunion, are organized.
