1. Combined Programmes of Freshers Welcome and Farewell of Students
Batch of 2021 -2024 on June 13, 2024 
A farewell programme was organised by the students of Political Science on 13th June, 2024. The Students of Sem-4 and Sem-2 gave farewell to the outgoing batch and the Students of Sem-6, the outgoing batch gave a fresher welcome to the students of Sem-2, whom, they could not meet before as the college was indefinitely closed for election etc. They showcased several performances including recitation, dance and singing and the programme encouraged the participation of the new entrants.

Inter College Quiz Competetion on July 25, 2024

The Inter College Quiz Competetion was held on 25th July, 2025 among six colleges among which four colleges were partner colleges with whom MOU has been signed. The collaborating colleges were Ramkrishna Mission Belur Vidyamandira, Belur Math, Ashutosh College, Kolkata, and New Alipur College, Kolkata. The other two non-MOU signed colleges were Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College, Kolkata and Shyampur Siddheswari College, Howrah. Two students from all the six colleges participated. There were 8 rounds of Quiz. They were Googly Round, Fixed Question Round, Indian Politics, Ami Sei Meye, Sports, Music quiz, International Politics and Audio-Visual rounds. Two teachers from each of the participating colleges had come. A total of 24 Faculty Members of the Organising college were present along with a total of 35 students had made the programme a grand success. The programme ended with the declaration of winners. The first position was bagged by Belur Vidyamandira, second came the hosting college, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah and the third came Asutosh College, Kolkata. The programme ended with a grand success as it encouraged students to ponder upon various topics from both of their curriculum as well as current affairs and topics of general knowledge fostering thoughts on issues in our life. 41 students attended the programme.
3. Induction Programme of Semester-I students on August 7, 2024 The Political Science Department organised this
Induction Programme on 7TH August, 2024. All the teachers introduced themselves to the new students and gave a short lecture on the various prospects of the subject Political Science, along with other opportunities they can avail as being stakeholders in the college, including NSS etc.

Student Seminar on August 30, 2024
The student seminar was held on 30th August, 2024.Four students of Sem -5 participated in four-day long programme of Student Seminar. They first chose one topic from the list of topics provided by the R&D Cell, IQAC. named Society and Politics with focus on the district of Howrah. Then they conducted a survey in 30 households in Chakpara Anandanagar Gram Panchayat in Howrah. The findings were presented by them with analyses in the seminar.

Celebration of the Constitution Day on November 28, 2024

The celebration of the Constitution Day of India was held on 28th November, 2024. The programme was organised by the department of Political Science in collaboration with Asutosh College. The welcome address was delivered by our Principal Madam, Dr. Ruma Bhattacharyay. Dr. Sweta Guha, coordinator of IQAC, delivered a speech on the significance of the day. The resource person was the eminent speaker, Dr. Kanad Sinha, assistant professor of the Sanskrit College and University, Kolkata. His topic was India Banam Bharat: Namkaraner Rajnitee o Bharatiyo Sanbidhan.76 student attended the programme. 24 faculty members also attended the programme. The programme was ended by vote of thanks, delivered by Prof. Soma Chandra.

Certificate Course – 2 (May, 2024 – February, 2025)

Certificate course -2 on Development and Environment was organised by Department of Political Science in collaboration with Bengal Institutte of Political Studies. The inauguration programme was held on 24th May, 2024. It was a 30 hours certificate course. Mainly under graduate students of 6th semester and 4th semester of the Department of Political Science participated in the course. Experts from different disciplines of social sciences took classes in the course and duration of each class was one/two hours. Syllabus of the concerned course was very thoughtfully prepared covering all the major aspects of the two prime concepts of the course- ‘development ‘and ‘environment’. The syllabus was so prepared so that the participants of the course can utilize the acquired knowledge in them later lives. At the end of the course, one MCQ test was conducted based on the topics covered in the course. A valedictory session was organised by the department on 29th March, 2025. 26 successful candidates received certificates at the valedictory session of the course.

Human Rights Day Celebration on February 06, 2025

Department of Political Science & IQAC in Collaboration with Muralidhar Girls’ College on 06.02.2025 celebrated Human Rights Day of 2024, a little late due to some unavoidable circumstances like series of University examinations. The partner MoU college Muralidhar Girls’ College quite willingly lent their collaborative hands by sending Dr. Shayeri Roy, Assistant Professor and four students from the department of Political Science. Prof. Kaushik Bandyopadhyay, HOD opened the workshop with his inaugural talk. Principal Dr. Ruma Bhattacharyya delivered the welcome address and it was followed by the speech of IQAC coordinator Dr. Sweta Guha. The theme of the workshop, The Prism of Human Rights, and its uniqueness was presented by Dr. Sarbani Guha Ghosal. Dr. Susmita Das, the first speaker, narrated her experiences on child rights violation and the attempts they are taking for its redressal among the children living in Ranigunj railways station and for the children belonging to the brick kiln workers’ families. The title of her presentation was “Agony & Ecstasy of Human Rights – Experience of Some Children”. The highly lecture with narrations of tremendous hardship was followed by a performance of the children living in the railway station and enrolled under “Jibanpath”. Their performance “Jai Ho” was very warmly received by the audience. The second speaker Dr. Sankhamala Ray also mesmerized the audience through her lecture on “Song of Rights”, where she spoke about the role of songs in different rights’ movements throughout the world with live demonstration of songs and their history. The workshop ended with the vote of thanks. 150 students attended the programme.

State Level Seminar on
“Some Issues of Political Studies” on March 29, 2025

The department of Political Science in collaboration with Bengal Institute of Political Studies organised a State Level Seminar on Some Issues of Political Studies” on 29.03.25 HOD Prof. Kaushik Bandyopadhyay began the programme by inviting the resource persons, Principal & IQAC coordinator on stage. Dr. Sarbani Guha Ghosal, Associate Professor of Political introduced the theme of the Programme. It was followed by the welcome address of Dr. Ruma Bhattacharyya, Principal and the address of the IQAC coordinator, Dr. Sweta Guha. Prof. Ranjana Sarkar Ghosh introduced the resource persons. Biswanath Chakraborty chaired the programme and presented the theme from multiple angles. Dr. Arindam Ray spoke about the contemporary problems related to the issue of development and environment along with the implication of different national and international policies. The last speaker of the seminar veteran political scientist Prof. Sobhanlal Datta Gupta dealt with the issues and problems of developing political though in the contemporary world with special emphasis on Indian context. 74 students attended the programme.
9.
Micro-Teaching programme for Skill development on April 23, 2025

A micro – teaching programme was conducted by the department of Political Science on 23rd April, 2025 to enhance teaching skill among students. Five students from SEM – VI taught the SEM II students about various aspects of the Indian Constitution. The programme significantly improved their confidence and effectiveness in real classroom scenarios. 34 students actively participated in the programme.
